Residents Gather on March 17
to 'Get the Facts'
The City of Concord kicked off Phase II of the Concord Community Reuse Project with an informational “Get the Facts” Open House on the Concord Naval Weapons Station (CNWS) on Saturday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle.
Much information gathered on topics related to the preparation of the Reuse Plan for the former Navy base was made available to the public. The event featured stations where participants could “get the facts” by studying displays, picking up information and talking to the Reuse Plan team members about the project.
The stations focused on transportation, utilities, natural environment, parks and open space, environmental clean-up, and fiscal and financial issues. Maps and charts put the site in the context of the region, the City and neighborhoods. A site timeline showed how land uses at the weapons station have changed over time. Numerous documents and reports were available for viewing at the “library” station.
